Established in 2013, Creative Learning in Prison (CLIP) works directly with prisoners within Guernsey Prison, delivering education, employment and other
meaningful and productive activities.
The charity’s activities align with the States of Guernsey Justice Framework, and we leverage our experience and expertise to help Guernsey Prison meet HM Inspectorate of Prison’s definition of a ‘Healthy Prison’.
By supporting learning and education, we enable prisoners to acquire vital skills that support their reintegration into society.
CLIP aims to help equip prisoners with the education and life skills they need to make a meaningful contribution to the local community.
The six pillars of our framework are:
We aim to build a legacy that inspires prisoners.
Our goal is to reduce the likelihood of prisoners reoffending.
We improve work skills through vocational training and courses.
We focus on supporting prisoners so they can fully integrate back into society.
We are committed to delivering and developing learning within a safe and secure environment.
We support prisoners by preparing them to make meaningful contributions to society.
CLIP contributes to the Guernsey multi-agency approach to reducing reoffending rates. Just 6% of prisoners in custody for more than 12 months reoffend in Guernsey, compared to 23% in England and Wales.
